Chislehurst house, London

Existing site

Located in a conservation area with mature landscapes in south-east London, this project features a small upper floor extension, complete facade remodeling, addition of new fence and gates, as well as exchange of the landscape surfaces.

Scope of works

Preserving the late modernist, mid-century character of the building and respecting the surrounding lush vegetation, this project aims to breath a fresh artistic rendition to the aesthetic qualities of the site, while responding to contemporary energy efficiency and sustainability requirements.

The new cladding combines three similar timber textures to evoke an artist’s pencilwork. The textures of the landscape surfaces bring a similar artistic dynamism to the environment.
