Centre for Arts and Culture ‘containArt’
Preserving the identity of the existing industrial buildings is the main objective of this project. The only new above ground volumes are made of shipping containers: lightweight, self-supporting structures, which contributes to the industrial aesthetics of the building. The containers embody the visual identity of the new Centre for Arts and Culture and augment its physical presence and visibility in the park. The landscape follows the natural geometry of the terrain and the project proposes terraced formation of open air tiers for various events. The green roof of the old underground storage building is reused as an open air cafe.
